🌊 Shape the Future of Marine Conservation: Join the REDUCE Training Experience!

Are you a national from West Africa countries and passionate about protecting our oceans? Do you want to gain hands-on experience in mitigating bycatch of Endangered, Threatened, and Protected (ETP) species? Is your area of concern sustainable fisheries and marine environment in the Eastern Central Atlantic Ocean?

The European Project REDUCE (Reducing the Bycatch of ETP Species in the ECAO Region), in collaboration with the Spanish Fisheries General Secretary (Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries) is looking for motivated professionals, researchers, and students to participate in an exclusive training program aboard the iconic Training Vessel INTERMARES.

This amazing training opportunity is provisionally scheduled to take place from 6th  to 9th October 2026 on board the INTERMARES, which will be moored at the Port of Dakar (Senegal). This workshop might entail activities at sea. Before we launch the call for the Workshop registration we would like to know more about the interest of potential participants, to try to better accommodate formats and contents to the relevant audience.

Why This Matters?

Incidental catches (bycatch) remain one of the greatest challenges for fisheries and marine biodiversity in the Eastern Central Atlantic Ocean. We are designing a specialized course to provide you with the knowledge and tools needed to make a real-scale impact.

We Want to Hear from You!

Before we set sail, we want to ensure this training meets your needs and professional goals. This is your chance to help us shape the curriculum and express your interest in joining us on board.

Why should you participate?

  • Unique Environment: Learn directly on the INTERMARES, a state-of-the-art laboratory at sea.
  • Expert Insight: Gain knowledge from leading scientists in marine ecology and fisheries in the region.
  • Networking: Connect with a community dedicated to match sustainable fishing and marine conservation.
  • Travel, accommodation and subsistence costs covered by the organisers.

⏱️ Tell us about your motivations. It only takes 3 minutes!
